Creating a Spin Off Company
The Problem:
Hornstrup and Partners (now called Joint Action) has a very well researched and validated theory of change: Relational coordination, a measurement tool for analyzing the communication and relationships through which work is coordinated across a large organization. I helped the CEO to create a digital spin off company of their core consulting product.
The Process:
Design Question: How might Hornstrup and Partners grow its impact and business through creating a digital version of their core product?
One large inhibitor to this innovation project was the upfront financial investment needed to develop the new technology and software needed, so I searched out and got 33,000 Euros of funding to develop prototypes, and fly the best researcher on the subject in the world to Denmark to help us develop the product. Shortly after this process I left the company, but the digital product has since been made into its own company and is rapidly growing.
